2026 Pricing Sources & Regional Multiplier Formula (Reviewed November 2026)
Every dollar figure in the calculator is a 2026 planning estimate reviewed in November 2026. The three inputs below are named so a metro multiplier, a mil thickness, or a national average can be checked against a public source.
- Regional Labor Multipliers (0.86×–1.35× across 150 US Metros). City multipliers are computed from US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS), May 2025/2026 Metropolitan Area Occupational Wage Indices, for Cement Masons & Concrete Finishers (SOC 47-2051) and Coating/Painting Workers (SOC 47-2141). Each metro wage index is weighted 55% labor / 45% fixed national commercial resin materials. Crew wages move with the local OEWS index. Resin, flake, and quartz prices are treated as a national material price, so they do not get a second city markup. That is why a city multiplier tracks what a local coating crew is paid. It is a wage index, not a guessed “expensive city” factor. BLS OEWS.
- Material Coverage & Surface Prep Standards. Concrete profile follows ICRI Technical Guideline No. 310.2R (CSP-2 to CSP-5). Thin-film epoxy, flake, and polyaspartic systems on this site are specified at CSP-2 to CSP-3. Mortar and heavy broadcast builds are specified toward CSP-4 to CSP-5. Slab moisture uses ASTM F1869 (calcium chloride, pounds per 1,000 sq ft per 24 hours) and ASTM F2170 (in-situ relative humidity). Wet-film takeoff uses the 1,604 wet-film coverage constant: 1 US gallon is 231 cubic inches, which covers 1,604.17 sq ft at 1 mil. Gallons = (sq ft × mils) ÷ 1,604.17 for a 100% solids resin. 2026 commercial product data sheets used for solids content, kit size, and coverage checks: Sherwin-Williams General Polymers, Torginol, ArmorPoxy, and Sika.
- Published Industry Benchmark Cross-Check (Reviewed November 2026). This Old House (updated March 13, 2026) publishes $3–$12 per sq ft for professional epoxy and $5–$12 per sq ft for metallic epoxy. HomeGuide (2026) publishes $4–$10 per sq ft average installed and $1,600–$5,800 for a 2-car garage. Angi (2026 data) publishes a $2–$12 per sq ft broad range. Those are national bands that mix water-based kits, solid color, flake, and decorative systems. This calculator narrows them to one system, one slab-prep condition, and one metro labor multiplier. The full tables are in the epoxy flooring cost per square foot guide.
2026 US Resinous Flooring Systems & Installed Cost Per Sq Ft
In the US market, "epoxy flooring" is used as an umbrella term for six distinct resinous coating systems—each with different mil thicknesses, coverage rates, and service environments:
| Service / System Type | Typical US Use Case | Avg. Installed Cost | Coverage & Key Specification Variables |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solid Color (Thin-Mil / 100% Solids) | Basements, utility rooms, light commercial warehouses | $3.25 – $5.75 / sq ft | 14–20 mils DFT · Primer (220 sf/gal) + pigmented build coat (133 sf/gal) + optional urethane topcoat. |
| Decorative Vinyl Flake (Chip System) | Residential garages, auto shops, schools, locker rooms | $5.00 – $8.50 / sq ft | 28–35 mils DFT · Partial chip (~0.02 lbs/sf) vs. Full broadcast scraped flat (~0.12–0.15 lbs/sf). |
| 1-Day Polyaspartic / Polyurea | High-end residential garages, outdoor patios, retail | $6.00 – $10.50 / sq ft | 18–24 mils DFT · Fast 24-hr cure, 100% UV-stable aliphatic resin (never yellows outdoors). |
| 3D Metallic Epoxy | Showrooms, living rooms, finished basements, salons | $8.50 – $16.00+ / sq ft | 38–50 mils DFT · Requires thick metallic flood coat (40–55 sf/gal) + satin urethane wear coat. |
| Decorative Quartz System | Commercial kitchens, kennels, pool decks, hospitals | $7.00 – $13.50 / sq ft | 35–50 mils DFT · Double-broadcast colored quartz sand embedded in clear resin; high wet traction. |
| Urethane Cement / Epoxy Mortar | Food processing plants, commercial kitchens, breweries | $10.00 – $19.00+ / sq ft | 1/8" to 1/4" (125–250 mils) · Withstands 200°F+ thermal shock, steam washdowns, and forklifts. |
